Empowering Women to Reconnect with Nature and Discover Their True Authentic Selves

Welcome, I am so glad you found me.

Hi, I'm Clare, founder of Natures Healing Haven. After 25 years of being a registered nurse I decided to retrain as a Forest Bathing and Nature Connection guide so I could help women prioritise themselves, to find the joy in everyday life, to follow a more authentic path of fulfilment and to heal through nature.

I started going to Forest Bathing and Nature Connection sessions at a point in my life when I was lost. I was wearing many, many hats, juggling many plates and trying to keep my head above the water. I was lots of different names to lots of different people but I wasn't me. Finding Forest Bathing and Nature Connection was like stepping into another world. I learnt to put those plates down, one by one, to swap the hats out to my own hat and to start thinking about me and my needs (rather than putting my needs on the back burner behind everyone else's). I want YOU to have that same experience, to feel empowered and to realise it is not selfish to put your needs first.  Through the wonders of Forest Bathing and Nature Connection I will support and guide you to (re) connect to both yourself and to nature, because you are worth it.

The different sessions I offer

Forest Bathing

Was first heard of in the 1980s and comes from the Japanese term 'Shinrin-Yoku', Shinrin meaning forest and Yoko meaning bath, so to bath your sense in the atmosphere of the forest. Forest Bathing is not about walking at a certain speed or covering a certain distance and it definitely does not involved a swimsuit. The focus of Forest Bathing is to give you permission to take time out for yourself, to focus purely on you without the distractions of everyday life. It is a time to slow down, to fully immerse yourself in the forest and to be present.

Nature Connection

Is very similar to Forest Bathing, the difference being it can be carried out in any natural environment, not just in the forest. Nature Connection, like Forest Bathing can help reconnect us with our bodies and the earth. It is a time to disconnect yourself from the outside world and to spend the time focusing on yourself and the natural world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a Forest Bathing or Nature Connection session?

You will be guided through some gentle, sensory invitations (activities) whilst slowly walking through the forest/woods/specific area for Nature Connection. The purpose of the invitations are to help you get into a state of mindfulness and embodied presense. Some of the invitations are quiet and reflective, where as others are more playful.

The forest is very much the therapist, I am just there to guide you.

There will be opportunities throughout the session to share any insights or observatrions you've made, only if you feel comfortable doing so.

At the end of each session there will be a tea ceremony, with some healthy snacks. This is a really lovely way to bring everyone together and to end the session.

No experience is necessary. You may feel a bit awkward to start with, especially if this is your first time, stay with it, there is no judgement, just open your heart and you will be reaping the benefits.

What are the benefits of Forest Bathing and Nature Connection?

There is so much scientifical evidence out there to say that both Forest Bathing and Nature Connection can benefit you both physiologically and psychologically. These benefits include;

  • helping build up a stronger immune system
  • boosting serotonin production (mood lifting hormone)

What should I wear when I come to a Forest Bathing or Nature Connection session?

Bring layers with you, even in the heat of the summer, as it can feel cooler under the trees. Don't forget a hat, gloves and scarf in the winter months and I would always advise packing a waterproof coat, just in case, as Forest Bathing and Nature Connection will still carry on even if it rains (sessions in the rain can be a true awakening for your senses).

Sun cream, sun hat, a water bottle, especially during our summer months.

Long trousers are a good idea too, especially if you decide to go off track during an invitation.

Walking boots or wellies are advisable.

Remember you will want to be warm and comfortable, protected and dry.

What if it rains or there's a storm?

The only time I do not go ahead with a Forest Bathing or Nature Connection session is if there is a constant torrential downpour or stormy weather.

Light rain, intermittent showers or light gusts of wind actually enhance the Forest Bathing or Nature Connection experience as you will be connecting with nature in a different way. It can really awaken your senses.

Make sure you pack waterproofs.

Can I bring my dog with me?

Unfortunately not as some dogs can cause a distraction and this is your time to focus purely on you. Also some attendees may not be comfortable with dogs.

Can I bring my children with me?

At the moment I don't offer Forest Bathing or Nature Connection sessions for children. However, my plan is to offer sessions to stressed out teenagers, be it due to exam anxiety, friendships, school etc so keep an eye on my webpage. I will also be offering adult/child sessions throughout the year too.
